Kid's Devotion - Honesty

      1. Watch the video
      2. Doug trivia - What is the number of Doug's Bluffscout troup?
      3. What did the scouts have to sell to raise money? Why were they so hard to sell?
      4. What did Roger do to help enable him to sell all his bars?
      5. Read Proverbs 12:22  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+12:22&version=NIV  Was what Roger was doing- right even though it was for a good cause?
      6. Read John 8:44,45.  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%208:44-45&version=NIV   What is wrong with a little lie if it is done for the right reasons?
      7. How was Doug rewarded for being honest? What was Roger's punishment for lying?

Note to parents.
In this episode, Doug is tempted to lie to attain a good goal. We are all tempted to do this - "Tell him I'm not in", "I can't come, I'm not feeling well", "You look lovely today", etc. I know that the reasons we do these things are all good, but God is a holy God and one of His attributes is truth. (look in a concordance how many times "truth" appears in John) One of the devil's main attributes is untruth. If we want to please the Lord always tell the truth even though it seems counter productive. God can make the impossible happen just like what happened to Doug when he told the truth.

Kid's Devotion - Doing Good Without Getting Noticed

1. Watch the episode
2. Doug trivia - What is Doug's address? What is the highest point in Bluffington?
3. Read Matt. 6:1-4 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matt%206:1-4&version=NIV1984
4. What are "acts of righteousness? What were Doug's acts of righteousness?
5. How are acts of righteousness to be carried out? How did Doug do his?
6. What does "Don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" mean?
7. Would you be willing to be Hamburger Boy for a friend under these circumstances?
8. Would you be able to keep your good deeds a secret like Doug did?

Note to parents. In this episode Doug does a very unselfish thing even though it is summer vacation and the last thing he wants to do is dress up like Hamburger Boy. He helps a friend out and gets nothing in return. They never talk about payment. He gets no recognition and can't even claim his reward as hero in a near drowning incident. Express to your kids that God wants us to do good and to love without expecting any repayment and not to do things so people notice but to do it as unto the Lord.
