Kid's Devotion - Accepting Your Uniqueness

1. Watch the video
2. Doug trivia - What is the name of Doug's baseball team?
3. What is the most important part of your body?
4. List all the things you couldn't do if you didn't have a right thumb? (feel free to be silly)
5. In the Doug episode, what was the most desired position on the team? What happened when everyone tried to go for that position? What would happen if everyone was a pitcher and no one played in the field?
6. What is the most important position in the church?
7.Read 1Cor 12:14-31. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20cor%2012:14-31&version=NIV . What are some of the different jobs in the church? Are the people doing those as necessary as the pastor? What would happen if no one took out the garbage at the church? What would happen if everyone was the preacher?

Note to parents: In this episode the parents get involved and want their child to pitch. However, only one, Patty, was qualified while the rest were gifted at other positions. (Note- Doug is left handed and is therefore uniquely gifted for first base) When they all tried to play the same positions the team fell apart. The same is true in the body of Christ. If everyone wants to preach who will listen or who will take care of the church? Plus some people are gifted teachers and most people aren't. God has given you and your kids certain gifts and when you are using those, not only will you have fun and not get burned out, but you will have success. Your goal should not be to be in a more noticeable position or one that gets more glory but rather take pride in the ability and gift God has given you and use it with all His strength that is within you.
