Thoughts From 2 Peter - Day 4

" To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ " 2 Peter 1:1

          What does Peter call Jesus? He calls him God. He realizes that the man that they walked and talked with for 3 years was more than a rabbi, more than a teacher, more than the best person that ever lived - He was God in a human body. This is the foundational belief that it takes to be saved and unfortunately no religions of the world believe this other than true Christianity. When I was delivering babies, I would ask labor patients if I could pray for them and usually the only ones that said no were Jehovah Witnesses because they knew I would close it out "in Jesus name, Amen", (which not to be legalistic but that is the proper way to do it - we pray to the Father through the son who gives us access) and that would be blasphemous to them and Jehovah because God is one not three.

          I compiled a list of verses that tell us that Jesus is God and here they are:

  1 John 5:20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

 John 1:18  No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God (a lot of people like John 1:1 also)

   John 10:33  “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

  Rom. 9:5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

   Acts 20:28 Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

   Isa. 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

     Heb. 1:8  But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever... (a lot of people like 1:3 also)

    Titus 2:13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ

    Isa 54:5  the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

    Isa 40:3 A voice of one calling In the wilderness,(John the Baptist)"prepare the way for the Lord make straight in the desert a highway for our God"

    Zech. 12:10 (Yahweh is speaking) “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced

    Jer. 23:5,6 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, (Jesus) ... This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord (Yahweh) Our Righteous Savior.

     Those are a dozen of the clearest verses that show that Jesus is God. I know it doesn't make sense that one being could be three persons to our human mind. I picture a chalk board with 2 stick figures talking to each other. Then I place a can of Coke on the chalkboard horizontal to the floor. What do the stick figures comprehend? "Someone introduced a circle in our world!" They have no concept that it's actually a can or 3 dimensional sphere filled with 12 ounces of fluid because they live in a 2 dimensional world. God has stepped into our world in a 3D Jesus but we can not comprehend the depth of who God is, and isn't that inconceivable immense God the being you want to worship? I want to worship Something that is so much bigger than me, don't you?
